When sourcing candidates, we subconsciously have some bias when we review candidates' profiles. These unconscious thoughts or biases, for example, against candidate age, achievements or even perceived candidate availability for new opportunities, can have a negative impact on your sourcing results and/or the company's hires, in terms of candidates moving (or not moving) through the hiring process for reasons not related to the candidate's relevant work experience. Therefore, unbiased sourcing mode is an option you have access to in hireEZ to reduce unconscious bias in your sourcing and recruitment process.
In hireEZ, the admin user can easily customize the unbiased sourcing mode, to anonymize the specific information from the candidate's profile. This article will introduce how to set this mode in admin settings.
There are two main points in this article:
Turn on the Unbiased Sourcing Mode
To help better hire without bias, the admin users can locate the Unbiased Sourcing Mode from Admin -> Team Settings -> Sourcing -> Sourcing Configuration -> Unbiased sourcing mode.
Once the new change is made, users will need to click "Save" on the bottom to save the change. All the changes will then impact the team members' sourcing mode.
When the unbiased sourcing mode on and the attributes are checked to hide, there will be an icon on the sourcing page, showing that the mode is on and some specific information will be hidden in the sourcing results.
Introduction of Specific Information Settings
1. Basic Information
Based on what the hireEZ offers, users can choose to hide the information like name and profile picture, contact information, social links, and salary data under the basic information.
After the information is selected to be hidden, that information will be unavailable to any team members that source candidates in the platform.
- Name and profile picture: this info is default to be hidden once the unbiased sourcing mode is turned on. The candidate name will only show the abbreviation version and the profile picture will not display.
- Contact information: it will turn grey and un-clickable.
- Social links: all the social links will be grey.
- Salary data: it will not be shown from the Insights.

If you would like to hide all the information mentioned above, clicking "Select all" at the beginning will make this happen.
Group Settings
Remember Group Configuration is always higher than the General Configuration. In other words, if a user is in a particular group and the mode is turned on in the group but off for the team, this specific user would still have this mode in sourcing.
Nevertheless, if the mode is turned on for both team settings and group settings, the specific user from the group will have the combined applied attributes. Say, the team settings have selected all attributes to obscure the profile, while none under the group, the group user's page will obscure all attributes as well.
